Joy! I am so very excited. The Minnesota House of Representatives has just voted to extend the freedom to marry to all couples! The state senate votes on Monday. Governor Dayton has vowed to sign it if it passes.
I can’t begin to explain how much this means to me. I married the love of my life, and wouldn’t change a thing. Why shouldn’t EVERYONE be allowed to marry the love of his/her life?
The idea that my marriage means more simply because we happen to have two different sets of “tackle” is simply preposterous. Why shouldn’t our friends who are in loving, committed relationships with partners of the same gender have the same rights and freedoms as we do?
The state I have chosen as my home is getting it right this time around. Thank you, Minnesota, for choosing to be on the right side of history.
